Rigirita cocktail, a Mount Rigi twist on the Margarita with tequila and fresh lime

Rigirita - A margarita with a floral Swiss accent: tequila blanco, fresh lime and Mount Rigi.

Mount RigiRigirita

The Rigirita is a Margarita recipe for tequila, lime and Cointreau or triple sec fans, with Mount Rigi standing in for the orange liqueur. Tequila blanco brings a clean agave base, fresh lime gives the drink its sharp lift, and Mount Rigi contributes floral elderflower, lemon balm and a subtle Kirsch backbone, finished with a salt rim for a drier, more aromatic edge.

Frequently AskedQuestions

Is the Rigirita a Margarita variation?

Yes. The Rigirita keeps a classic Margarita's backbone — tequila blanco, fresh lime and a salt rim — with Mount Rigi standing in for the orange liqueur, so the sweetness comes from floral elderflower and lemon balm with a light Kirsch note underneath. At around 18% ABV for the full serve, it drinks close to a traditional Margarita's strength, with a more floral, less citrus-heavy finish.

Which tequila works best?

A clean tequila blanco works best because it keeps the drink bright and fresh.

Can I make the Rigirita less strong?

Yes. Serve it over more ice or add a splash of soda water for a lighter version.
