What does Mount Rigi taste like?

Lightly sweet, floral with notes of elderflower, lemon balm and cherry.
The alcohol comes from Kirsch, the fruit brandy made from cherries.

What's inside the bottle?

It starts with Kirsch, Switzerland's traditional cherry brandy. The cherries are picked by hand, left to ferment for four to six weeks and then distilled in copper pot stills to 70% ABV. It takes about ten liters of cherries to make a single liter of Kirsch.

Then comes the slow part. Real elderflower blossoms and lemon balm leaves go straight into the spirit and stay there, steeping, until the Kirsch has taken on their flavor. That's maceration – nothing more than plants, alcohol and time.

Every bit of flavor in the bottle comes from those macerates. No added flavorings, no additives.

Is Kirsch the same as cherry liqueur?

No, and it's an easy mix-up. Kirsch is a clear brandy distilled from cherries, and on its own it isn't sweet at all. In Mount Rigi it's the base: it brings a soft cherry note in the background, while elderflower and lemon balm do most of the talking. So don't expect a red, syrupy cherry taste.

Can I drink Mount Rigi neat?

Yes - best served chilled over ice.

What can I mix with Mount Rigi?

Mount Rigi pairs especially well with tonic water, lemon soda, sparkling wine, grapefruit juice, orange, lime and premium tequila. Its floral alpine character makes it highly versatile in aperitif cocktails.

Can I use Mount Rigi instead of elderflower liqueur?

Yes. St. Germain and other elderflower liqueurs are the most common one-to-one swap — in most recipes you can use the same amount of Mount Rigi. You keep the elderflower character, and the Kirsch adds a light cherry note underneath.

Do I need to refrigerate Mount Rigi?

No, room temperature is fine — even after opening.

Where do you ship?

We ship Mount Rigi to 46 US states and Washington, D.C. Because of state alcohol laws, we can't ship bottles to Alaska, Hawaii, Michigan or Tennessee.

Do I need to be home to receive my order?

If your order includes a bottle of Mount Rigi, yes. Someone 21 or older has to sign for it – that's the law for every alcohol delivery in the US. The driver will check a valid photo ID and can't leave the package at your door. Orders with only shirts or other merch don't need a signature.
